The Burbank Bulldogs defeated the Canyon Cowboys 35-6 Thursday night at Burroughs High School. After falling behind 6-0, Burbank settled in and took control of the contest.

The Bulldogs were led on offense by Darnell Williams. Burbank took a 14-6 lead into halftime. The Burbank special teams came up with a huge play in the third quarter, blocking a punt and returning it to the house.

The Burbank Bulldogs cruised to a dominating 56-14 Pacific League home victory over the Glendale Nitros Thursday night.

Burbank seized control of the game from the outset. Star junior running back James Williams took a shovel pass from junior quarterback Ryan Meredith to the house to give the Bulldogs the 6-0 advantage.

After recovering a Glendale fumble, bulldozing senior fullback Joseph Pendleton punched in a touchdown for Burbank to extend the lead. Williams added the 2-point run, giving the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead with 7:44 left in the opening quarter.

In the Battle of the Bulldogs, Burbank cruised to a convincing 42-7 home league victory Thursday night over Pasadena. With the win, Burbank improves to 5-0 on the season heading into a big Pacific league showdown against Crescenta Valley next Friday.

The Bulldogs jumped out to the early lead on a short touchdown run by standout junior James Williams. In addition to the game-breaking Williams, Burbank features a stable of talented backs that include Joseph Pendleton and Tony Toledo.

The Muir Mustangs rolled to a 35-3 victory over the Hoover Tornadoes at Moyse Field Thursday night in the Pacific League opener.

The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead with a 47-yard touchdown run by dual-threat senior quarterback Dejon Williams. The extra point attempt was blocked. Muir added another touchdown run to lead 13-0 after a quarter.

The Mustang D was led by the stellar play of seniors Jasper Iheaso, Ricky Crowder and Tony Claxton. Hoover was unable to mount much of an attack and trailed 13-0 at halftime.

Burroughs loaded the bases on Hoppy once, and drew leadoff walks in consecutive innings prior. But as it all unfolded in front of everyone attending the game at Arcadia High School's Giambrone Field today in a monster Pacific league showdown between the host Apaches and guest John Burroughs Indians from Burbank, the southpaw reliever Jonathan Hopkins, popularly known as "Hoppy" to the Apache faithful en masse, overcame all the pressure to deal four no-hit shutout innings and earn the win in relief.

Game 7 at the MLK Day Showdown featured the Gardena Serra Cavaliers against the Alemany Warriors.

Alemany enters the contest with a 13-6 record while Serra comes in 16-4. Both teams came out fast and on fire from long range. For Serra, guard Ajon Efferson knocked down a couple jumpers but Alemany responded with jumpers from sophomore Bennie Boatwright and freshman Shacquille Dawkins.

After the first quarter, Alemany led 24-19.

Boatwright hit four three-pointers in the first half to spark the Warriors.

The fifth game at the MLK Day Showdown at Providence features a quality matchup between the JW North Huskies of Riverside and the Palisades Dolphins.

JW North enters with a 16-3 record while Palisades holds a 14-6 mark coming into today.

Both teams play tough defense, forcing the opposition to work for every basket. Open looks were hard to come by in the first quarter with Palisades holding a slim 10-9 lead until Ohio State football commit Marcus Baugh threw down a vicious dunk to give JW North an 11-10 advantage after a quarter.

In the primetime matchup of the Pioneer Hoops Showdown, the host Providence Pioneers and star sophomore sensation Marcus LoVett Jr. put on quite a show for those in attendance. Providence defeated the Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) Knights 69-61 behind an impressive 48 point performance from LoVett.

The super sophomore scored in a variety of ways, slashing to the hoop, knocking down step back jumpers and making a living at the foul line. Coming off a 47 point outing against Campbell Hall, LoVett was in a good rhythm from the outset and continues to put up ridiculous numbers.

The fifth game on the slate at the Pioneer Hoops Showdown at Providence High features two quality teams in the Oak Park Eagles and the Leuzinger Olympians.

In what turned to be the best game of the day so far, Leuzinger hung on for a 65-64 victory over Oak Park.

The game featured a sweet matchup of guards. Oak Park guard Ron Lee Jr. and Leuzinger guard Eric Childress both played phenomenal basketball to lead their teams.

Lee Jr. led all scorers with 28 points while Childress scored 21 points and dished out 11 assists.
