This summer has provided a whirlwind of news and coverage across the college football landscape. Over the past several months we have seen conference realignments, NCAA probes, transferring of recruits and more. Amongst the most important changes we've witnessed has been the increased coverage of high school football and recruiting across the board. In our age of new media, college coaches and recruiters have more access to prep football players than we ever could have imagined, and as one of the country's top recruits, one is essentially guaranteed recognition in the national spotlight.

California's class of 2011 football recruits who have yet to make commitments include a list of highly talented student-athletes. The list includes three players from last year's Gardena Serra High School CIF state football championship team, in George Farmer (WR/2011), Marqise Lee (DB/2011) and Jason Gibson (LB/2011). This group also includes a few recruits from NorCal powerhouse Grant High School (Sacramento), in Viliami Moala (DT/2011) and James Sample (DB/2011). Greg Townsend Jr. is one of the most sought after defensive recruits in the nation this year. According to Rivals, Townsend Jr. is the #1 overall defensive end recruit in the country in the class of 2011, and currently holds scholarship offers from several programs, including, USC, Oregon, UCLA, Cal, Miami, Alabama, Nebraska, Tennessee, Washington and many others.

Todd Barr (DL/2011) from Lakewood High School in California must have unlimited minutes on his cell phone. The Lancer defensive lineman has scholarship offers from 25 schools across the country and his phone is ringing off the hook from some of the top college football programs in the nation. With countless offers on his table, Barr recently named Cal his early leader. At 6'3" 265 pounds, Barr is ranked as the #3 overall defensive tackle by ESPN.
