Muir Defeats Hoover 35-3, Improves to 3-1

Dejon Williams Too Much for Hoover

The Muir Mustangs rolled to a 35-3 victory over the Hoover Tornadoes at Moyse Field Thursday night in the Pacific League opener.

The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead with a 47-yard touchdown run by dual-threat senior quarterback Dejon Williams. The extra point attempt was blocked. Muir added another touchdown run to lead 13-0 after a quarter.

The Mustang D was led by the stellar play of seniors Jasper Iheaso, Ricky Crowder and Tony Claxton. Hoover was unable to mount much of an attack and trailed 13-0 at halftime.

Muir came out swinging in the third quarter and took control of the game. Another touchdown run by WIlliams plus a two-point conversion gave the Mustangs a 21-0 advantage. The Muir defense extended the lead with a fumble return for a touchdown by Claxton after a nice strip by Crowder.

Leading 28-0, Williams linked up on a deep touchdown strike with senior Marceles Clash off a nice play fake that put the game away. Hoover added a late field goal to spoil the shut out bid. With the victory, Muir improves to 3-1 with a home league game against Glendale next Friday. Hoover will look to rebound with at home against Arcadia.
