Diamond Ranch High School linebacker Matt Preston is ready to step up as he enters his junior season for Head Coach Roddy Layton. Preston was recently awarded the LB MVP Award at the NUC Elite Camp and was recognized as one of the Top Sophomore linebackers.

Preston is a multi-sport athlete and also plays on the Diamond Ranch HS baseball team. With size and the frame to add bulk, Preston will likely gain the attention of many more college coaches and recruiters in the near future.

Head Coach Mike Grossner gave Dillon Baxter another chance on Sunday, and Baxter once again showed resolve to keep his dreams of someday playing in the NFL alive.

As a former USC Trojan and one-time San Diego State student-athlete, Baxter looks to pick himself up alongside his new teammates and coach at NAIA Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Coach Grossner anticipates the former California high school touchdown record holder to contribute to the offense in a number of ways, similar to the many different positions Baxter played while he starred at Mission Bay.

Long Beach Poly high school football has long served as a gateway to the NFL, sending more players to the league than any school in history. Sports Illustrated named Poly, the athletic school of the century. Former Poly greats include Willie McGinest, Desean Jackson and Mark Carrier.

Senior hybrid linebacker Jayon Brown appears ready to carry on the proud Jackrabbit tradition in 2012. At 6-1 205, Brown has an instinctive nose for the ball and a knack for laying the wood on the opposition. Last season, Jayon compiled 65 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception.

Check out these highlights from the first half of the 2012 Los Angeles Nike Sparq Football Camp at Cerritos College in Southern California.

The camp featured Top Southern California football recruits, in addition to players from Nevada, Arizona and beyond. Along with top offensive lineman recruit Emerald Faletuipapai of Gardena Serra, there were a number of big time prospects including Concord De La Salle linebacker Michael Hutchings, Upland defensive end Joe Mathis, Mission Viejo safety Max Redfield and Rancho Cucamonga safety Tahaan Goodman.
