Class of 2017 WR Donovan Peoples-Jones Captures Nike Football Rating Championship at The Opening

Class of 2017 wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones shined on day one of The Opening Finals, claiming the Nike Football Rating National Championship with a 149.79 total score in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, agility shuttle and kneeling power ball toss. Peoples-Jones holds several scholarship offers including Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State.

So really my decision came down to Long Beach Poly and IMG. I just thought IMG would prepare me better for the next level. Chris Weinke is the coach there. He won the Heisman, led them to their undefeated season and he wore number 16.

Hopefully I'll go to a couple games at Florida State next year.

I'd love to play in front of my family and friends in Long Beach but this was the best decision for me.

Mission League leaders Chaminade fought back from a 7-3 halftime deficit to overcome a rugged Loyola team. Loyola dominated a well coached first half with running back Daniel Tolbert scoring a touchdown on Loyola's opening drive.

The JSerra Catholic Lions topped the St. Bonaventure Seraphs 42-28 in front of a raucous crowd Friday night at Saddleback College. With the victory, the Lions improve to 4-0 on the season.

St. Bonaventure jumped out to the early 7-0 lead. USC commit Ricky Town linked up with speedster Lavan Alston on a long touchdown strike.

The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits defeated the Westlake Warriors 34-24 Friday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium to remain undefeated. Poly senior quarterback Josh Love led the way for the Jackrabbits with four touchdown passes.

Westlake jumped out to an early lead on a short touchdown run by junior Chase Jasmin. The Warriors added to their advantage on a rushing touchdown by standout junior quarterback Malik Henry.
