The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits defeated the Westlake Warriors 34-24 Friday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium to remain undefeated. Poly senior quarterback Josh Love led the way for the Jackrabbits with four touchdown passes.
Westlake jumped out to an early lead on a short touchdown run by junior Chase Jasmin. The Warriors added to their advantage on a rushing touchdown by standout junior quarterback Malik Henry.
Trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Long Beach Poly stormed back into the game behind the pinpoint passing of Love, who linked up with Johnnie Rucker on a sweet touchdown strike to cut the deficit to 14-7.

Love continued his hot streak, connecting with Dae'John Jeffrey Logan on another dart for the game-tying touchdown.
Westlake was able to add a late field goal before halftime thanks to a big play from Henry to Theo Howard. The Warriors led 17-14 at the intermission.
The Poly defense, led by the stellar play of defensive back Iman Marshall shut down the Westlake offense in the second half. Meanwhile, Love and the Jackrabbits methodically marched down the field for the go-ahead touchdown and their first lead of the game on a touchdown strike to Rucker.
Poly extended the lead when Love linked up with Logan for his fourth touchdown pass of the night. The Jackrabbits pulled ahead to a 34-17 lead on a touchdown run by Jeremy Calhoun. A late touchdown from Henry to Howard cut the gap to 34-24.
In the end, Poly proved too strong for Westlake. The Jackrabbits face a tough road test at Corona Centennial next week while the Warriors host Dominguez.
