Richard Yeargin III committed to Notre Dame a few weeks ago and CLA recently caught up with the 2014 OLB (University School) from Florida.

"I'm happy with my commitment. You get great support and great feedback from them (ND). I'm always looking for good opportunities and they provided 'em," Yeargin III told CLA.

So far this season, Yeargin III is wreaking havoc on some of the nation's most powerful offenses.

Now that the 2012 NCAA football regular season is complete, it’s time to honor the most outstanding players on the field this year. USC quarterback Matt Barkley entered 2012 the Heisman favorite but faltered early.

West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith grabbed the reigns as early season favorite with a great September. After Smith and West Virginia lost a few games, Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein became the presumed frontrunner before a disappointing loss to Baylor.

Notre Dame Coach Mike Denbrock, the former assistant for Head Coach Brian Kelly during his tenure at Grand Valley State (MI), has an eye for talent. It was Denbrock who got Kelly in contact with Gardena Serra HS Head Coach Scott Altenberg so that he could express his interest in 2014 All-American linebacker Dwight Williams.

"It was pretty much (Mike) Denbrock talking to him (Coach Kelly) about me. He said that I have the character, which is what they need in their program and that I can ball," Dwight told CLA Sports today.

Tee Shepard is one of the top defensive back recruits in the country. Shepard enrolled early at Notre Dame and was expected to make an immediate impact in the Irish secondary next season. That all changed last week when Shepard left the program and returned home to Fresno.

It is unclear what actually led to Shepard’s departure at this time, although health concerns appear to be the primary factor. Shepard’s departure leaves the Irish secondary pretty thin.

Ishaq Williams (Lincoln High School, NY) is one of the top prep football recruits in the class of 2011, and you wouldn't even know it if you asked him. "I am a calm guy who doesn't like attention. Very laid back," Williams told CLA Sports. Last season, the humble 6'6" 230 pound defensive end led the Abraham Lincoln High School football team to their first postseason victory since 2003.
