Both teams defenses were stifling in the first half with the first quarter finishing 0-0. Neither team could do much on offense due to solid defensive performances from both teams.
Harried by Westlake's swarming defense all game, Santa Margarita quarterback KJ Costello did well to cap the first half with an excellent 25-yard run to put Santa Margarita up 7-0 at the half.
Westlake started the second half on fire. Determined to get receiver Theo Howard the ball after Santa Margarita silenced him in the first half, Westlake quarterback Grant Bunker found Theo Howard in the corner of the endzone twice for highlight worthy touchdowns of 42 and 33 yards. Running back Chase Jasmin capped a 152 yard game by scoring the winning touchdown with an incredible 58 yard run.

But Santa Margarita ran out of time as Westlake closed out a powerful defensive performance. D1Bound Theo Howard was the player of the game with 2 touchdown catches that changed the course of the game.
