At 6'4 215, Josh Rosen has a formidable presence on and off the football field. Rosen doesn't carry himself like the typical high school sophomore and he's well aware of this fact. According to the 2015 QB recruit, maturity comes with the territory.
"You have to become mature beyond your years very quickly, especially at the quarterback position," Rosen told CLA Sports.
When you're an athlete coming from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, you have got a bit of a reputation to uphold and that hasn't been a problem for 6-foot-1, 200 lbs. WR/S John "JuJu" Smith. Smith has received upwards of 20 offers already and has been compared to one of, if not the top wide receiver in college football today in Marqise Lee. For now, however, Smith is focused on his upcoming season and the recruiting process throughout his senior year.
Here's a list of 2013 summer football camps in California, where student-athletes can hone their skills before the start of the season. Many of these camps are taught by former and current professional and college coaches.
At 6'1 230, Chandler Leniu is already built like a Division I starting middle linebacker. The junior had a monstrous season last year for St. John Bosco Braves. Leniu led the league in tackles and catapulted his team into the CIF playoffs.
CLA had the chance to speak with Chandler's dad Dave Leniu about what the recruiting process has been like recently.
Malik Dorton '14 DE from St. John Bosco names his top three schools. See who is at the top of his list. Dorton currently has 10 official offers. Look for Malik to lead a hungry Bosco defensive unit that features some of the top recruits in the nation, including: Naijiel Hale (DB/2014), Chandler Leniu (LB/2014) and several other key players.
Jaleel Wadood is that dude. As one of the top defensive back recruits on the West Coast, Wadood is stacking scholarship offers like pancakes, and it's no short stack either. The St. John Bosco 2014 DB has racked up offers from ten top Division I programs since last year.
Wadood's most recent offer came today from the Pac-12. Washington State reached out to the Bosco coaching staff and made contact with Wadood to become his tenth official scholarship offer.
The Cougars are currently in a rebuilding phase, but that doesn't mean Wadood is sleeping on their offer either.
Watch the complete breakdown of the National Signing Day Special hosted by CollegeLevelAthletes.com in Hollywood, CA. Salesian High School (Los Angeles) recruits Jermaine Kelly Jr. and Jihad Vercher were amongst the recruits to sign letters of intent. Kelly signed with Washington, while Vercher made his commitment to Sac State.
At Serra High School (Gardena, CA), Darrell Fuery isn't the most talked about on the football team. In addition, Darrell Fuery is not your prototypical star player. However, Darrell Fuery is a helluva football player and doesn't mind being underrated because he know's the real deal. Oh yeah, and he runs a 10.8 100M and long jumps nearly 24 feet.
Fresno State knows that Fuery is the real deal, and for the 2013 Serra HS recruit, the feeling is mutual. "I went on a visit this weekend and I committed on Sunday at breakfast," he told CLA Sports today.
Franklin Panthers senior wide receiver Joshua "Jay Tee" Taylor is gonna make quite a splash at the next level. The playmaking star wideout recently took an official visit to San Diego State and was pleased with his experience.
"I had a lot of fun. They had a good welcome for us. We watched a practice, it was an intense fast-paced practice which I liked," said Taylor.
Last week, Taylor participated in the LA All-Stars v San Diego All-Stars game at Oaks Christian where he had two catches.
