College Level Athletes arrived at Cal Lutheran early Saturday afternoon and witnessed an excellent display of coaching and technique, in addition to a few of the country's most coveted HS ballers. The 2012 B2G Sports Elite Football Camp at Cal Lutheran University featured some of the top high school football recruits in the nation.
Top high school programs such as Mater Dei, Long Beach Poly, Marcos de Niza (Arizona), Oaks Christian, Rancho Cucamonga and Corona Centennial sent players to this elite camp sponsored by Adidas. Other schools that contributed to the top HS football recruiting pool featured at B2G included Lakewood, Gahr, Rancho Verde, Salesian, Dorsey, and Lincoln of San Diego.
Recent University of Washington Huskies commit Damore'ea Stringfellow was sidelined with a sore hamstring on Saturday, but was nonetheless able to take mental reps, as he closely dissected the 1on1's between wide receivers and defensive backs.
Speaking of 1on1's, Saturday was yet another day that CB Chris Hawkins (2013 - USC Commit) established himself as a force to be reckoned with, as he defended passes while being hampered by a thumb injury. Hawkins was literally able to single-handedly take on some of the top HS wide receiver recruits from the West Coast and beyond.
Other defensive backs who performed well at the 2012 B2G Sports Elite Football Camp were Salesian HS 2013 standout Jermaine Kelly, along with the Dorsey HS class of 2013 tandem of safety Jayme Otomewo and corner Daquawn Brown.
Otomewo currently holds offers from University of Colorado, Arizona State, San Jose State and Ohio.
As a lockdown corner, Brown holds a number of official scholarship offers that include top college football programs such as UCLA, Cal, Arizona State, Washington, Washington State, Boise State and San Jose State.
A few of the most physically impressive HS football recruits at the 2012 B2G Sports Elite Camp were Tustin HS 6'1" 215 top linebacker prospect Edward Tandy and Redlands HS running back Craig Lee. Tandy holds an offer from Cal Berkeley, while Lee is one of the nation's top running back recruits. After rushing for over 1,500 yards with 15 touchdowns in 2011, Lee has attracted the attention of many top college football programs and currently holds 15 scholarship offers. Craig Lee has offers from Oregon, UCLA, Notre Dame, Nebraska and several other schools.
The offensive players at the 2012 B2G Sports Elite Camp were equally as impressive as their defensive counterparts.
The University of Arizona was represented well at Cal Lutheran over the weekend. Arizona Wildcats commits in attendance included Brandon Cox (QB/2013, Pasadena) and running backs Mauriece Lee (RB/2013, Marcos de Niza) and Zachary Green (RB/2013, St. Bonaventure).
In addition to quarterback Brandon Cox, Salesian HS signal-caller Jihad Vercher (QB/2013) held down the fort and threw strikes to receivers throughout the day.
