The Marshall Eagles of Pasadena scored a sweet victory over Notre Dame of Riverside thanks to a stellar 39-point performance from senior Davin Hampton in the opening round of the CIFSS 4A playoffs.

The scoring outburst was nothing new for Hampton who has been dropping buckets consistently all season. Marshall will likely need a similar output in their next contest.

With National Signing Day in the rear view mirror, programs are solidifying their recruiting classes in anticipation of spring ball.

Canoga Park linebacker Anthony Rios-Carlsen was one of the most productive players in Southern California this past season. Rios-Carlsen on-field exploits earned him City Section Defensive Player of the Year honors and helped lead his team to the City Section Division II Championship Game.

As a child, X'avier Shepherd was a far cry from being thought of as a future NCAA football player. Shepherd was literally afraid to put the pads on. Today, the Lakewood High School senior has a fan base in Utah that has been growing for the past several years, and he has now officially signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for the Utes in 2013.

CLA spoke with future Texas A&M Aggies football player Sebastian LaRue. Several days after the Santa Monica High School student-athlete signed his National Letter of Intent to play college football, you could sense that he's going to feel at home in College Station.

"There's a lot of excitement. All over my Twitter and on blogs. they're just raving about me signing with them. I'm glad the fan base is excited about me and I'm excited to go in and capitalize off their excitement," LaRue told CLA Sports.

National Signing Day 2013 was a glorious occasion for the several student athletes and their families at Sunset Bronson Studios in Hollywood Wednesday morning. Years of hard work and dedication culminated with the excitement of signing their national letter of intent in front of a live audience of family and friends.
