National Signing Day 2013 was a glorious occasion for the several student athletes and their families at Sunset Bronson Studios in Hollywood Wednesday morning. Years of hard work and dedication culminated with the excitement of signing their national letter of intent in front of a live audience of family and friends.
Organized by Jermaine Kelly Sr. and hosted by CLA's own Aaron M. Plunkett, the student athletes made their announcements on the set of Let's Make a Deal.
The most suspenseful decision was made by standout Salesian defensive back Jermaine Kelly Jr. The prized recruit had narrowed his choices to Washington, USC, Oregon and Boise State.
With his family surrounding him, Kelly initially reached for the USC cap in front of him but quickly donned the Washington cap reaffirming his commitment to the Huskies.
USC and Oregon had made late pushes for Kelly's services.
Salesian teammate quarterback Jihad Vercher announced his intent to attend Sacramento State University. The accurate strong-armed signal caller should flourish for the Hornets.
Valencia hard hitting safety Tedric Thompson will be laying the wood at the University of Colorado. His arrival will be a welcome addition to the Buffaloes defense.
Inglewood two-way star Chauntez Jackson will be taking his talents to the University of Houston where he will likely play tight end for the Cougars.
Fairfax athlete Bill-Bijon Parker announced he will attend the University of New Mexico. The speedster will return kicks and likely play defensive back for the Lobos.
In-state rival New Mexico State landed their own defensive playmaker with Inglewood safety Tre Wilcoxen. The Aggies will surely benefit from the addition of a student athlete with Wilcoxen's drive and work ethic.
The Fresno State Bulldogs added another playmaking wideout with Cathedral's Da'Mari Scott who will join fellow freshman Delvon Hardaway and Darrell Fuery in Fresno. The Bulldogs spread passing attack featuring quarterback Derek Carr should excel with the arrival of this talented arsenal of weapons.
CLA was honored to share this special moment with the players and their families. We wish all the student athletes the best as they take the next step in their football journey.
