Quarterback guru Steve Clarkson's Throwback Football League provides student athletes with an opportunity to be great. Youngsters from 6th-8th grade are comprised of 10 teams sporting vintage throwback uniforms from football's glory days.

The TFL is a springtime full pads full contact league that seeks to recruit, develop and showcase the best young talent around. There are no kicks in the TFL. Each team starts offense with the ball on their own 40 yard line. If they are unable to score and choose to punt, the ball is advanced 30 yards where their opponent takes control of the ball.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 lbs., the Miami Northwestern defensive end Michael Smith is beginning to stand out. The Class of 2014 player took to the NFTC in Miami and showed great explosion off of the line of scrimmage and it is easy to see that teams are taking notice with a solid list of offers already.

Smith boasts offers from Louisville, Clemson, West Virginia, South Florida, Cincinnati, UCLA and Marshall, but he's receiving big time interest as well. "Miami (Fl.), Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas and Yale are showing interest too."

He talked about some of the players that he's been in contact with from the incoming Fighting Irish recruiting class and expressed excitement about joining the team. Watch the complete interview and check out some excusive CLA highlights from the 2012 HS football season featuring Max Redfield and Mission Viejo.
