The Salesian Mustangs rolled to a 50-12 victory in their home opener against the Hanford West Huskies on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Mustangs exploded for 30 points in the second. Arizona commit Rodney Carr broke the ice with a short touchdown run to give Salesian the lead. The two-point conversion made the score 8-0.
A long kick return by the Huskies gave them good field position. Hanford West quarterback Tyler Bakker moved them into scoring position with some solid completions but the Salesian D stepped up and forced a turnover on downs.

Standout linebacker and Arizona commit Jamardre Cobb made his presence felt on offense with a long run up the right sideline that was followed up by a nice run from Bobby Tee Rodgers to the Huskies 1-yard line. Quarterback Blaise Booth short touchdown plunge extended the Mustangs lead to 14-0.
Hanford West responded with a drive of their own. Facing fourth down in the redzone, the Huskies dialed up a wide receiver pass for a touchdown to cut the gap to 14-6.

From there, Salesian quarterback Blaise Booth took over, spreading the ball around to his arsenal of receivers. The offensive line gave Booth plenty of time to stretch the field, connecting with receiver Jeremy Kelly on a 37-yard touchdown strike and a 22-6 advantage. Booth added another long touchdown pass to give the Mustangs a 30-6 lead at halftime.
Salesian kept on rolling in the second half and extended their lead on an impressive touchdown run by Felipe Meza. Arizona commit Marquis Ware had a touchdown catch while defensive end Rayshawn Boyce returned a fumble for a touchdown and wreaked havoc in the backfield all day.
The defense applied relentless pressure on Bakker all game. Kyhava Tezino was flying around making tackles while Jamardre Cobb laid the wood on a few ball carriers. It was a solid home opener for the Mustangs after two road defeats. Up next for Salesian is a non-league contest at Pasadena.
