Rashaan Evans Getting National Recognition

Pac-12 Taking Notice of OLB Evans

When you’re coming out of the heart of SEC country, you know you have to stand out as a football player and that is exactly what Auburn High School (Auburn, AL) linebacker Rashaan Evans is doing. Evans stands at 6-foot-3, 218 lbs., runs the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds and currently has 24 offers from many of the top schools in the nation including Alabama, Auburn, USC, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida State.

Of course, for many that follow recruiting, the belief is that the athletes in the SEC area are difficult to pull out to areas like the west coast and so on, but Evans is giving everyone a chance. “Well with me, they (other conference schools) fare the same as the SEC schools. I’m the type of guy that will go anywhere to be successful, regardless of how far out it is.”

For many schools, that is a good thing to hear because when asked if he had a list of top schools, Evans said, “Actually, I don’t right now. I’m still pretty open.”

With upwards of 20 offers and many more to come, Evans is getting attention from plenty of the top defensive minds in college football and some are telling him the same thing.”They have pretty much told me that I was one of their main targets for this class and basically that they’re going to recruit me hard.”

Evans doesn’t really have a timeline on his decision, even though he said “sometime during my senior season,” but he did have a few teams he watched growing up that could be getting his attention. “It was Alabama, Auburn and Florida I watched (most),” Evans said.

While recruiting is going to be a focal point for Evans, he still has another season of high school football and when asked of his goals, he said, “Really to continue to work harder and create a better chemistry with my teammates than last year.”

Evans is an extremely talented player and he is definitely bound for great things in the future.
