Now that the high school football season is in the books, aspiring college level athletes have the opportunity to hone their skills outside the school setting. No position requires more dedication, training and development than quarterback.

Many of the top local quarterbacks and gun-slingers representing 20 states will receive expert tutelage at quarterback guru Steve Clarkson's 2014 Field General Quarterback Camp this weekend. 90 of the most talented young arms in the nation will get to measure their skills against premier competition at this sold-out event.

1. Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M

Reigning Heisman trophy winner and Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is well on his way to defending his throne after a dazzling first month in the 2013 college football season. Through five games, Johnny Football has thrown for 1489 yards and 14 touchdowns while connecting on 71 percent of his attempts for the Aggies. Manziel has also made an impact with his legs, rushing for 314 yards and three touchdowns.

With the college football season on the horizon, it's time to take a look at the talented student athletes most likely to contend for the prestigious Heisman trophy award in 2013. CLA expects a wide open race with many worthy competitors.

Braxton Berrios is already a household name in the world of high school football. After a dominating performance at The Opening in Oregon over the summer, Berrios carried the momentum into week one of the 2013 season.

Braxton Berrios: Week 1 Highlights

Class of 2015 lock down cornerback Tarvarus McFadden from American Heritage in Plantation, FL possesses the size and speed to flourish at the next level. During the 7on7 circuit this spring, McFadden balled out for South Florida Express Elite squad.

CLA witnessed McFadden's talent first hand at the IMG 7v7 National Championships in Bradenton. The standout defensive back has already reeled in several scholarship offers with many more certainly to come.

After watching Artavis Scott play at the IMG 7v7 National Championship it was a given that he was one of the most gifted players on the field.

The 2014 WR flew out to the West Coast shortly after Team Tampa claimed victory and took home rings from the IMG tourney. The Opening hosted at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon was the next top for Artavis Scott.

As one of the top recruits to announce his verbal commitment on national television, Scott was able to share his experience at The Opening with his friends and family back in Florida.

CLA spoke with Raekwon McMillan shortly after his recent unofficial visit to the University of Georgia. McMillan is considered by many to be the nation's top inside linebacker recruit in the class of 2014. We chatted about recruiting and asked Raekwon what he’s been up to since The Opening at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.
