The state of the USC Trojans and their 2013 recruiting class has come under fire from the fan base after their loss to the Oregon Ducks, their third of the season. The following day, safety Max Redfield de-committed from the Trojans and the speculation quickly followed.
Was this the beginning of a fallout? Are more recruits to follow? Could some of the anchors of the Trojans’ recruiting class also be looking at other schools?
Well, we were able to talk to defensive tackle commit Kenny Bigelow about where he stands and if the Trojan faithful should be worried.
Bigelow has been committed to the Trojans since November 30 of last year and has been a prominent piece of what could end up being an amazing recruiting class. Bigelow also feels that the de-commitment of Redfield shouldn’t push fans into meltdown mode. When asked if he feels fans should be worried, Bigelow said, “Not at all. I talk to these guys all the time. We all feel the same way; that this could very well be the best recruiting class ever and we are all proud of the Trojan name.”
When asked how the three losses affect him and if he and the recruits talk about it, Bigelow continued, “The three losses mean nothing to us. We talk about it a little, but it’s nothing major.” Does he and the other recruits view it as a opportunity to make an impact next year? “We talk about it a lot. We all know that with the defensive backs in this class along with the defensive line, we will complement each other and be dominant.”
Bigelow knows that he, Eddie Vanderdoes, Jason Hatcher, Kylie Fitts and Torrodney Prevot have a lot of hype coming in and fans labeling them the next “Wild Bunch”, but he sees it as a good thing. “We embrace it, but at the same time, we know that what they did was amazing. But we want to be better and do something truly amazing (too).”
Bigelow is scheduled to be an early enrollee and he has a message for all USC fans: “I just want them to know we thank them for all of the support and we will be everything they expect us to be. Fight On!”
There you have it USC fans, don’t worry too much about the state of the recruiting class.
