Desean Holmes (WR/2015) is making a name for himself and has fully emerged from the shadow of teammate Steven Mitchell, who recently signed to play wide receiver for the USC Trojans in 2013.
Last season, CLA had the chance to watch Holmes' Bishop Alemany squad face Bishop Amat and 2013 UCLA WR signee Darren Andrews. Holmes was the star of the game and finished with more than 170 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Desean says that coaches have told him he has "great quickness, great hands and good ball skills." This has proven true on the 7v7 circuit this off-season, as Holmes has dazzled spectators with his speed and acrobatic catches.
Desean Holmes Highlights: Sophomore Season
"Yesterday SC came out and Washington came out," Holmes told CLA Sports today. "SC coach said that he likes me. Last time we sat down and talked, the coach said that they're going to offer me really soon. Coach Herrington said that SC loved how I'm playing right now," he said.
Like USC, Washington has also yet to offer, but Holmes says they're both close.
Holmes plans to visit the Washington Huskies camp at the end of May, and he will likely return to Southern California with an official offer.
Cal is another program showing interest in the 2015 WR Holmes and Coach Pierre Ingram likes what he sees.
"Coach (Ingram) told me to call him today at 6' o clock tonight. They really like me and they're going to offer. The Cal coach told my trainer that he saw my one-handed catch and they want to get me early," said Holmes.

When asked if he would like to be the next "Desean" at Cal Berkeley, Holmes said, "that would be pretty cool."
The sophomore recently took a break from track and field and will focus on getting bigger and stronger for the upcoming HS football season. If Holmes can bulk up and come into fall camp at 175-180, he'll be dominant.
Look forward to more updates from CLA.
