One of the stars of the 2013 Nike Football Camp at Redondo Union High in Los Angeles was Compton Centennial defensive back Denzel Fisher.
The 6-2 165 pound Fisher displayed great ball skills and lockdown ability. Denzel clearly has the size and speed to matchup with big fast wideouts.
Immediately following Fisher's performance at the Nike Camp, the recruiting process went into overdrive. CLA had the opportunity to speak with Fisher about his experience and growing interest from major programs.
" Oregon and Washington were speaking very highly of me talking about my size and how a big corner like me can stick a big receiver. Both schools will come visit me in May. At Oregon, I had a talk with Coach Neal and at Washington I spoke with Coach Heyward," said Fisher.
Fresh off his Nike Camp exploits, Fisher has already reeled in one offer.
"I got an offer on Monday from San Diego State and have received interest from UCLA, Oregon and Washington," said Fisher.
The 2014 standout recruit should have a big senior season out there on Fisher Island. Opposing quarterbacks should definitely think twice about testing Denzel's ball-hawking ability. A talent like Fisher can lock down receivers with varying skills sets.
"It feels good cause now my name is on the radar and everyone is starting to see. I feel like I'm getting the job done, but I can't stop though," said Fisher.
In addition to his amazing athletic abilities, Denzel Fisher possesses the will and determination to be a great defensive back on the next level and beyond. Those around Fisher aren't that surprised by his emergence.
"Their proud of me cause they knew I had it in me. Now they see it's coming true. It's been good but I'm ready for more," said Fisher.
During the off-season, Fisher will run track for Compton Centennial in the 100 and 200 yard dash as well as the 4x100 relay. Expect Denzel to be primed and ready to lead the Centennial Apaches this upcoming season while he continues to reel in offers from programs around the country.
