The stars were out at the 2013 B2G Elite 16 7v7 Tournament at Fullerton College over the weekend. The 16 teams featured some of the best local student athletes. In the end, B2G 5-Star took home the crown.
B2G 5-Star was led under center by Hart quarterback Brady White. Quarterback guru Steve Clarkson has referred to White as the next Joe Namath.
White linked up with fellow Hart teammate and standout receiver Trent Irwin on several big plays throughout the tournament. The two clearly have a great chemistry and should wreak havoc on opposing defenses next season.
Serra receiver Jordan Lasley balled out and had five touchdowns and several game-breaking plays. Lasley recently received an offer from San Diego State and there is no doubt that many more offers are on the horizon.
The B2G 5-Star defense is spearheaded by a quality secondary that features Mater Dei's Jonathan Lockett and Long Beach Poly's Iman Marshall. Lockett was sidelined Sunday with a hip flexor and expects to be back on the field very soon.
B2G 5-Star defeated Ground Zero A from San Diego in the championship game.
In the semifinals, B2G 5-Star topped the Snoop Dogg All-Stars, featuring St. John Bosco lock-down corner Naijiel Hale.
Other notable student athletes in attendance were Mater Dei quarterback Chase Forrest, Salesian linebacker Jamardre Cobb and Alemany's Desean Holmes, who hauled in a sweet one-handed touchdown catch for his D1 squad.
2013 Washington commit Jermaine Kelly was there supporting his younger brother Salesian receiver Jeremy Kelly.
The event was sponsored by Gatorade and Adidas and showcased several future college level athletes competing against quality competition.
