I caught up with 2013 Notre Dame football signee Max Redfield today at the Nike Arcadia Invite Track Meet (Arcadia, CA). Redfield was an alternate for the 4x400 relay but did not compete.

He talked about some of the players that he's been in contact with from the incoming Fighting Irish recruiting class and expressed excitement about joining the team. Despite the loss of such a quality senior class , the 2013 California high school football season is in good hands with the return of so many first-rate ballers throughout the state. The teams featured in this year's bowl games will be loaded again.

Redfield indicated that he was a "soft commit" to the Trojans after the victory over El Toro, and made the decision the day after USC's loss to the Oregon Ducks that he is no longer committed to the Trojans for 2013.

Look for recruiting to heat up for Max Redfield from schools such as Oregon, Notre Dame, Washington and LSU.

The Mission Viejo Diablos overpowered the El Toro Chargers 49-7 in a highly anticipated clash for the South Coast League crown. Both teams came into the game undefeated but the Diablos proved supreme.

The Mission Viejo defense forced Utah bound El Toro quarterback Conner Manning into six interceptions and bottled up the Chargers high-powered offense.

The combination of Xavier Johnson and Stanley Johnson has allowed Mater Dei to eat up the glass thus far in the 2012 CIF State Playoffs. The Monarchs go into Saturday's matchup vs. Mission Viejo (3/10/12) with an extreme height advantage. Mater Dei suits up 8 guys that stand 6'5" and above, while the Diablos' tallest player checks in at 6 feet 7 inches.

The USC Trojans are looking to capitalize on a fresh start coming into the 2012 NCAA college football season. Southern Cal returns two potential Heisman Trophy candidates as they enter into the first year of the post-sanction era. Led by Head Coach Lane Kiffin, USC is looking to shake off the rust of not being able to compete in BCS post-season play for the past two consecutive seasons. The Trojans have a lot to be thankful for in 2012.
