Loyola 80, Calabasas 65

Parker Jackson-Cartwright strung together a dazzling triple double of 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Max Hazzard unleashed in like fashion with 29 points and 10 rebounds to lead Loyola past Calabasas. Thomas Welsh was just as terrific too with a putback jam and two hand bangout among the highlights of his 22 points on 10 of 12 FG (mostly in the paint). Welsh also snatched 14 rebounds, giving Loyola three players who posted at least a double-double.

The Santa Monica Vikings pulled out a hard-fought 53-50 victory over the Loyola Cubs on a last second three-pointer from star senior Jordan Matthews.

Loyola and Santa Monica faced off for the third time this season for a right to advance to Sacramento for the CIF Division I State Championship game.

Loyola won both earlier meetings in close contests. However, Santa Monica came out strong in the opening quarter with suffocating defense and fast break buckets. The Vikings led 11-5 heading to the second quarter.

Xavier "X-Straordinaire" Johnson gave the 2012 CIF Southern Section Basketball Playoff crowd something to go nuts about. The best dunk of the CIF SS playoffs came after Stanley Johnson dropped a Magic Johnson-esque dime to Xavier, who finished with a beastly smash and 'Mosgov' dunked over 6'11" Loyola center Thomas Welsh (40).
