Day one at the IMG 7v7 National Championship gave CLA our first glimpse at what the competition is like down in Florida. Going undefeated in the first day of action, South Florida Express looked cruised through their bracket. The Express' stingy defense only gave up 9 points over the first two games and 2014 quarterback Sean White was on target throughout the day.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 lbs., the Miami Northwestern defensive end Michael Smith is beginning to stand out. The Class of 2014 player took to the NFTC in Miami and showed great explosion off of the line of scrimmage and it is easy to see that teams are taking notice with a solid list of offers already.

Smith boasts offers from Louisville, Clemson, West Virginia, South Florida, Cincinnati, UCLA and Marshall, but he's receiving big time interest as well. "Miami (Fl.), Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas and Yale are showing interest too."

Ranking high school recruits is not an exact science. Well, if you compare ranking high school recruits to how NFL players are scrutinized, it isn’t very scientific. On the morning of April 27th 2012, Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay would have helped determine the fate of the first 32 picks of the NFL Draft. Similarly, the likes of ESPN, Rivals.com and Scout.com compile rankings and analysis of high school recruits. The particular ranking of a recruit can significantly improve or reduce that player’s stock and be the difference between Division I, DII, DIII or less.
