Long Beach Poly Defeats Clovis North 28-7, Advances to State Title Game

Jackrabbits Take Home CIFSS Regional Final Championship, Advance to CIF Finals

The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits defeated the Clovis North Broncos 28-7 to capture the CIFSS Division I Regional Championship at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Long Beach Friday night.

The Broncos jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a short touchdown run by sophomore standout Bo Olorunfunmi.

The Jackrabbits equalized on a big time fourth down touchdown catch by junior Juju Smith.

With the game tied 7-7, Poly quarterback Tai Tiedemann connected with senior wide receiver Brock Meekelborg for the go-ahead touchdown.

The Poly defense, led by UCLA commit Jayon Brown bottled up the Broncos offense for the remainder of the contest.

After the Jackrabbits secured a 14-7 advantage, they relied heavily on their workhorse running backs Gerard Wicks and Manusamoa Luuga to wear down the Broncos. Wicks and Luuga added short touchdown runs to extend the lead and secure the victory.

Poly will look to cap off a historic season in the Division I State Championship against Granite Bay Friday night Dec 14 at Home Depot Center in Carson.
