Mater Dei standout Stanley Johnson shined at the 2013 Nike Global Challenge in Washington D.C. over the weekend, leading USA West to the gold medal and earning MVP and All-Tournament Team honors.
Ohio State commit D'Angelo Russell was also named an MVP while Canadians Montaque Gill-Caesar and Christopher Egi were named International MVP's.
The Nike Global Challenge featured many of the best high school basketball players in the country competing against four young international squads from France, Brazil, Canada and Pan Africa. The American players were divided regionally into four teams: USA West, USA East, USA South and USA Midwest. The 8-team tournament was dominated by the American teams as they finished in the top four.

USA West went 4-0 and defeated USA 98-95 in the championship game. Stanley Johnson led the way with 23 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. The D1 bound baller has a knack for winning. When Johnson is on the court, chances are his team will be victorious.
Heading into his senior season, Johnson is poised to lead Mater Dei to their fourth straight state title. Johnson has scholarship offers from big time programs like Kentucky, Duke, Arizona, Kansas, Florida and UCLA and should make an immediate impact at the next level.
