Watch this new HIGHLIGHT MIX from Pasadena vs. Bishop Mora Salesian High School (Los Angeles, CA) on Friday night.
Salesian HS quarterback Jihad Vercher (QB/2013) just received an offer from Idaho and was chosen as the CLA + FurtherGen Offensive Player of the Game, and threw for 3 TD passes, while running for another score.
2013 UCLA football commit Jermaine Kelly Jr. was on the receiving end of two of those touchdown strikes from Vercher. The duo connected on a long 72 yard bomb in the opening quarter, and later hooked up for a score after Vercher rolled out and drilled Kelly in the numbers from 20 yards out with a rocket propelled missile.
On the defensive side of the ball, Salesian's stud linebacker Jamardre Cobb (LB/2014) caused a fumble after he caught a Pasadena ball carrier reversing field and planted his helmet on the rock and sent a shock-wave through the packed crowd. Cobb also picked up a big sack on a fourth down early in the game.
Jamardre Cobb was chosen as the CLA + FurtherGen Defensive Player of the Game.
Although Pasadena was without the help of senior quarterback and University of Arizona commit Brandon Cox who will likely be out 4-6 weeks with a foot injury, junior tight end Alex Baer stepped in for the Bulldogs.
Baer caught several passes over the middle in traffic and was able to provide an offensive spark for his team in the second half. Alex spoke with ESPN West Coast Recruiting Editor Erik McKinney after the game, as well as College Level Athletes. The junior tight end impressed those in attendance with his size and ability to catch the ball and stretch the field. As a standout player on the Pasadena HS baseball team, Baer is quality student-athlete.
Salesian's Keanu Garcia (LB/2014) was also impressive for the Mustangs. Listed at 6'0 225, Garcia plays with a high-motor in pursuit and made several great plays on defense Friday night against Pasadena. 6'4" 250 senior offensive lineman and team leader Christopher Gonzalez (OL/2013) also played well for Salesian and registered a blocked punt on special teams after he engulfed the Pasadena punter.
Robert Castaneda caught a long TD pass from Vercher in the second half and virtually sealed the deal for the Mustangs.
