The Salesian Mustangs are stocked with D1 bound talent in 2014. Notre Dame assistant coach Mike Denbrock was on hand observing the Mustangs practice. Leading the way for Salesian are hard hitting linebacker Jamardre Cobb and versatile athlete Marquis Ware. Both standouts have already reeled in several offers and should receive more in the future. Safety Kyavha Tezino recently landed an offer from UCLA, adding to a growing list for the talented 2015 defensive back.
On offense, the Mustangs must replace the leadership and production of former quarterback Jihad Vercher. After graduating in a few weeks, Vercher will be taking his talents to Sacramento State where he has an excellent opportunity to make an immediate impact.
2013 Salesian Football Spring Report: Video
Stepping in under center is Blaise Booth. After producing at the receiver position last season, Booth is expected to lead the offense at quarterback. While Blaise has the athletic ability to scramble, he's primarily looking to link up with his playmakers through the passing game.
Booth will have some serious talent at his disposal. The running game is in good hands with returning starter Rodney Carr. The 2014 RB's combination of speed and power will serve the Mustangs well this season. Jeremy Kelly is long and fast and will provide a prime target in the passing game. The Mustangs offensive line should be improved this season as well.
The X factor on offense could be spark plug Bobby Tee Rodgers. What Bobby Tee lacks in size he more than makes up for with quickness and explosiveness. Rodgers should be a great complement to Rodney Carr and provides the Mustangs with yet another weapon to deploy.
CLA looks forward to covering Salesian football this upcoming season and expects the talent laden Mustangs to continue to produce college level athletes.
