One name that you will hear more of in the Southern California area is Ricky Town. The 2015 quarterback from St. Bonaventure in Ventura, California stands 6-foot-4 and 190 lbs. and is picking up interest rather quickly.
"I have offers from UCLA and Miami (Fl.). Stanford, Alabama, Arizona State and Washington are also showing interest," Town said. That is a great list to boast for any quarterback, especially this early in the stage for a 2015 recruit. He's just patiently waiting on more offers, but he's going out there to try to earn them.
"I'm trying to check out the Alabama camp this summer and I'm going up to Stanford next week," Town said when asked which camps he will be participating in.
While there are plenty of schools showing interest in him, are there any particular schools that Town grew up watching? "I grew up in Northern California, so I watch Cal a lot. I also loved watching UCLA, USC, Stanford and Miami play."
Town has good awareness on the field and knows where to put the ball, but he knows he can always improve in order to achieve his goals.
"I want to improve on my leadership (even more). As a team, we're striving to win the Marmonte League Championship again and to win CIFs. For myself, my goal is to get bigger, stronger, faster and to master the offense," Town said. And while he does want to improve more on his leadership, he believes he does provide that. "I'm a strong leader, smart and a competitor. I can stay in the pocket and make any throw, but I can also make plays with my feet when I need to."
As for where schools stand in his recruitment, we asked him if he had a list of top schools. "UCLA and Miami have offered me so they are definitely on my list. Also USC, Stanford, Alabama, Washington, Arizona State, Cal, Georgia and LSU."
A long list that will eventually be narrowed down as more offers come in, but one thing is sure, Town is going to be a hot commodity.
