The Orange Lutheran Lancers were able to hand the Vista Murrieta Broncos their first loss of the season last Friday. The first quarter was was a feeling out period. Neither team was able to score.
In the second quarter Broncos WR Kyle Williams took some snaps under center and ran the ball for a touchdown. The extra point was missed, so Murrieta went up 6-0. Orange Lutheran gained some momentum after that, putting a field goal on the board.
With 14 seconds left in the half Lancers took the lead when QB LJ Northington was able to connect with sophomore WR Malone Mataele for a touchdown. The Lancers went into their locker room with a 10-6 lead.

Orange Lutheran dominated the second half, scoring touchdowns on four consecutive possesions. Junior FB Dominik Austin ran for two of them. Early in the fourth they were leading 29-6 when Vista was finally able to put a drive together.
Broncos QB Karson Greeley was able to hook up with sophomore WR Khalil Shakir for a touchdown. He then connected with WR Kyle Williams for the 2-point conversion. Vista may have been able to mount a comeback, but a pass from Karson Greeley to Khalil Shakir got popped up and intercepted by junior DB Austin Liles.
Orange Lutheran was able to move into field goal range after that. They missed, but the drive ran the clock down enough to solidify the win. The final score was Orange Lutheran 29, and Vista Murrieta 14.
Vista Murrieta falls to 3-1. They will be facing St. Augustine next Friday. Orange Lutheran lost to Corona Centennial and De La Salle in previous weeks, so their record becomes 3-2. They hope to take this momentum from this win into their first league game against Mater Dei next week.
