Four star Rancho Verde (Moreno Valley) wide receiver Damore’ea Stringfellow is one of the more coveted playmakers in the football recruiting class of 2013.
Programs throughout the country are lining up for Stringfellow’s services. On Monday, Ohio State and Oregon State made offers to Stringfellow. In addition to Ohio State and Oregon State, Stringfellow has already made visits to Washington and San Diego State.
CLA was fortunate to catch up with Damore’ea as he prepares to lead Rancho Verde to a great season.
“Just been working with my team trying to get better. We have a lot of young players coming in, so we’re working to get better as a team,” said Stringfellow.
“Our main goal is to repeat our season like we did last year. Dominate on the boards. Go undefeated again, hopefully, and get a chance to play in the state game. We had a shot at it last year but didn’t get chosen. We’re focused on getting back to that CIF game undefeated and then play in the state game and take that over.”
As it pertains to his recruitment, Stringfellow provided this insight.
“I’ve attended a few junior days, I took a trip to San Diego State, its not far, about two and half hours from my house. I went out there, checked out the school. I got to meet the coaches and stuff like that. They showed us around.”
“I also got a chance to fly out to Washington and got to witness their Spring game and meet all their coaches. Talked to Coach Sark (isian), Coach Dougherty and Coach Klesau. We talked about academics and how they want to use me in the offense, said Stringfellow.”
At the prospect of playing college ball at the Horseshoe in Columbus, Stringfellow was very candid.
“It does excite me a lot. I actually didn’t know Urban Meyer was the coach up there until today. My coach was telling me about the school and he asked me who (Urban) Meyer was and I was thinking Florida, and he told me that Meyer is the coach at Ohio State now.”
“Urban Meyer was actually the coach that was recruiting Ronald Powell (Florida) when he was at my school. Ronald told me that he talked to Coach Meyer about me when he was at the school a few years ago and I guess he remembered me.”
“I’ve spoken to Coach Meyer, and I’ve spoken to the receivers coach. One of the coaches is going to come out to the school and check me out.”
CLA looks forward to following Damore’ea Stringfellow as he leads his squad to a historic season and prepares to take his game to the next level.
