The top two high school basketball recruits in the nation, Shabazz Muhammad and Nerlens Noel, announced where they would be playing their college ball on ESPNU Wednesday night.
And the first prize goes to...UCLA
Shabazz Muhammad is headed to Westwood to be a member of the UCLA Bruins. Muhammad joins a loaded class that already features five-star St. Anthony recruit Kyle Anderson and Oak Hill Academy small forward Jordan Adams. The star studded trio will be expected to lead UCLA back to the elite level.
Muhammad’s other list of suitors included Kentucky and Duke. The 6-6 lefty from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas recently took home MVP honors in the McDonald’s All-America and will undoubtedly flourish at the next level. Muhammad possesses a crafty all around game that should wreak havoc on the opposition from day one. Shabazz has the ability to score from beyond the arc and inside the paint.
The other big winner…
Nerlens Noel is headed to Lexington to play for the national champion Kentucky Wildcats where he will replace Anthony Davis in the middle.
Noel had narrowed his choices to national champion Kentucky, Syracuse and Georgetown. The 6-10 power forward from the Tilton School should make an immediate impact at the collegiate level, primarily on defense.
