The Narbonne Gauchos overpowered the Crenshaw Cougars 25-0 on a rainy Saturday night at East LA College to take home the LA City Section Division I Championship.
The nationally ranked Gauchos improve to 14-0 and now set their sights on the regional final and potential state title.
Narbonne jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a short touchdown plunge by junior running back Johnell Jackson. The Gauchos added a field goal to take a 10-0 advantage into halftime.
The suffocating Narbonne defense led by hard hitting linebackers Marquis Lomax and Keishawn Bierria didn't allow the Crenshaw offense to score. Standout quarterback and Washington commit Troy Williams was solid under center and made a significant impact on special teams with his punting.
The Cougars offense was hindered by the rain and unable to make enough big plays through the air to stay in the game. Utah bound wide receiver Dominique Hatfield hauled in a few nice receptions but Crenshaw couldn't close the deal near the end zone.
Jackson added a long touchdown run to give the Gauchos a commanding 17-0 lead in the third. Cal commit AJ Richardson provided the icing on the cake with another score to give Narbonne an impressive 25-0 victory.
