Arizona State likes what they see in 2014 ILB MIchael Lazarus from Berkeley HS (CA) and extended an offer today.
“Coach (Chris) Ball just stopped by. He was excited to finally get to see me in person. He was surprised at how big I was,” 2014 LB Michael Lazarus told CLA today. At 6’3 220, Lazarus will not only surprise college coaches, but also opponents.
Laz plays with an aggressive style and diagnoses plays well from his middle backer position.

“He (Coach Ball) said he seen some highlights of me from LA and he said that I looked big on there,” said Lazarus.
“I been talking to Mississippi State and Vanderbilt a little bit. I just got back from seeing Boise State today and they're gonna stop by again on Monday. The linebacker coach is gonna come watch me workout,” he said.
A recruiter can only see so much from a film evaluation, but to see Mike Lazarus on the field, he instantly passes the eye test. He’s working hard to hope more schools will take notice and has his eyes on several top programs.
“I'm gonna call them soon… I want an offer from SC, UCLA, Washington,” he says. “I want Michigan and Ohio State to start looking at me. I want some Big-10 offers.”

Lazarus already has the body-type of a Big-10 inside linebacker. With the size of offensive lineman in the Big-10 it wouldn’t be a surprise if an athletic ILB with size like Lazarus starts to gain the attention of coaches in the conference.
“Michigan is a big program. That's legendary. Ohio State is big. Mississippi State… been talking to them for along time,” he says.
At the moment, Lazarus has three official offers from the likes of Cal, Washington State and Arizona State. It’s obvious that he’s hungry for more.
"I want some big boy offers. These offers are big too but I want to prove it that I been out here working,” said Lazarus.
Look for recruiting to heat up for the Berkeley HS senior-to-be, and with hardwork Laz could easily finish the year as one of the top linebackers in the West region.
