There were plenty of big high school football games in Southern California Friday night but CLA had the privilege to bear witness to superstar Franklin wide receiver Joshua “Jay Tee” Taylor and his play-making ability.
After scoring four touchdowns last week, Taylor was primed for another big time performance against Jordan (Los Angeles). The visiting Jordan team was undermanned but that would not have made a difference as Jay Tee was clearly the best player on the grid iron.
The Franklin squad got off to fast start and jumped all over Jordan. Taylor accounted for three first half touchdowns, including a punt return to the house. The Panthers took a commanding 48-0 lead into halftime.
Watch Jay Tee Taylor Score 3 First Half TDs
In the second half, Taylor scored three more touchdowns, including two long kick returns and another TD grab. The Panthers cruised to a 68-20 victory to improve to 3-0. Senior quarterback Bryan Hernandez had a great night as well, finishing with five touchdown passes. Joshua Taylor finished the game 275 all-purpose yards and six total touchdowns.
At 6-3, Taylor has the size, speed and ball skills to be an outstanding receiver at the next level. Combine that with a strong work ethic and high football IQ and it’s easy to see why big time universities are pining with interest.
UCLA wide receivers coach Eric Yarber was on the sidelines to catch a glimpse of Taylor’s abilities. CLA publisher Aaron Plunkett caught up with Coach Yarber and it was clear that Taylor was the player that caught the coach’s eye and is on the Bruins radar.
Jay Tee Taylor is the real deal. After witnessing his talent first hand, it would be shocking if Taylor did not land with a major local program like UCLA or USC.
