2014 All-American Joe Mixon Talks Cal Official Visit

Mixon Replaces SEC School in Favor of Pac-12 Official Visit

Freedom High School 2014 RB Joe Mixon named Cal one of his early favorites last week and he's now taken one official visit off of his schedule in favor of the Bears.

"I did what's best for me and the family by making that move," Mixon told CLA Sports today.

Today the All-American running back took an official visit to Texas A&M off of his schedule so that he could remain close to home in the Pac-12.

Mixon said that he feels most closely connected with Cal and will be attending the Ohio State game.

Right now, Cal has a stable of underclassmen running backs, including Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) freshman Khalfani Muhammad who ran a 10.3 100M at the CIF State Track & Field Championships this year. Thunder and Lightning?

RB Brendan Bigelow will be a junior this season for the Bears, which would give Mixon the ability to compete for early playing time in 2014 next to an upperclassmen should Bigelow return for his senior season.

At 6'2" 205, Mixon has great explosiveness and is a threat in the passing game. At The Opening in Oregon, Mixon went down field and Mossed somebody like we've seen him do time and time again.
