If you like good football and support our military, The 2013 Honor Bowl in Oceanside is the place to be this weekend. Founded by Mark "Coach" Soto in 2010, The Honor Group seeks to educate, empower and equip the brave men and women of our armed forces as they re-enter civilian life.
The Honor Bowl promotes athletic competition and sportsmanship while also educating student athletes and communities with respect to the needs of our military veterans. As a proud parent of two active serving military sons, Coach Soto has a clear understanding of the sacrifice our troops incur and the challenges they face when returning home.
Serra Head Coach Scott Altenberg Interview
This year's Honor Bowl features 8 of the best high school football teams in the state. State champion Gardena Serra will take on host Oceanside under the lights Friday night. The highly anticipated showdown paves the way for a triple header Saturday that kicks off with Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) against Del Oro followed by Upland versus Oaks Christian and capped off by the primetime matchup between Corona Centennial and St. Bonaventure (Ventura).
In addition to the on-field competition, those in attendance will be treated to parachute jumps and fly-bys. The dedicated Honor Group staff is comprised of volunteers that have a clear objective; to educate, empower and equip our veterans with the tools necessary to succeed.
CLA will be on the sidelines to document the action for what promises to be an amazing event.
