WR George Campbell Talks Michigan Verbal

2015 Michigan WR Commit Interview

George Campbell gets it done with a smile on his face. The 6'5" 190 wide receiver is heading into his junior season at East Lake High School (Florida) and exploded with a 4.37 forty at The Opening in Oregon several weeks ago.

The first time CLA watched George Campbell in person was in early July of this year at the IMG 7v7 National Championship in Bradenton, FL while the 2015 WR was still uncommitted. Campbell put on an MVP performance for Team Tampa and helped them claim victory in a tough battle against the South Florida Express.

George Campbell: IMG 7v7 Highlights

Campbell displayed athleticism seldom seen in a player with his size and length at the IMG tourney. On defense, the 2015 three-sport athlete (track, basketball, football) made several highlight worthy interceptions and on offense he was unstoppable.

"They knew I was a big-time player, but at The Opening, the way I competed, that really surprised them a lot. Coming from a 4.4 to a 4.3 in such short time, it shocked a lot of people. The recruiting process shot up after that. It showed me that my hard work is paying off," Campbell told CLA.

Campbell was one of a handful of 2015 recruits invited to The Opening in Oregon and he made his presence well worth it in a number of ways.

"It was great. Everyone watching on TV. Not just family but also friends and family friends. For them to see the potential of what I can build up to be my senior year, it was extreme."

George Campbell: Runs 4.37 Forty in Oregon

With a contagious personality off the field and sick game on the field, Campbell recently made the Michigan Wolverines 2015 football recruiting class much better when he committed to play in Ann Arbor after his senior season.

"It's a great school (Michigan), just academically and also football wise. The program and the way it's a family with Coach Hoke. I felt like it was a home away from home, just hanging out with the commits. My teammate Mason Cole already committed there too, so that was kind of an advantage," said Campbell.

Michigan has put together a strong 2014 recruiting class thus far, and with 6'6" QB Wilton Speight (Collegiate School, VA) in the fold, it's no wonder WR recruits like Campbell are eager to join the Wolverines quest to return to national prominence.

"Me and Wilton (Speight), we talk on the daily. We just talk about how we're gonna spend our time at Michigan and what kids we're gonna recruit. It pretty much comes down to how much fun we're gonna have. With him being a pro-style quarterback that means that we're gonna throw the ball and that means I'll have the chance to get the ball."

Outside of football Campbell admits that he doesn't have much free-time, but he finds ways to enjoy himself in the Tampa area.

"I barely have any free time because I do football, basketball and track. I just like to hangout and be a clown, hit the beach sometimes or go shopping," he says.

As far as pregame music, Campbell has Lil' Snupe and Young Jeezy on deck.

In a message dedicated to the Go Blue faithful, Campbell says, "I'm 100% with the Michigan Wolverines and I expect big things coming out."
