Talented USC D-Line Emerges

New Additions Williams, Breslin Provide Spark for Trojans Defense

One of the biggest surprises this season for the USC Trojans has been the emergence of the newcomers along the defensive line. Both Morgan Breslin and Leonard Williams have stepped up into huge roles to provide a great pass rush. With the recruiting class currently full of verbal commits, five along the defensive line, the future looks bright with the front four.

A new face that is expected to be on the defensive line next season is Placer High (Calif.) defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes. Standing 6-foot-3 and 305 lbs., Vanderdoes has been punishing offensive lines this season, helping the Hillmen to a 6-0 record on the season. With 4.5 sacks on the season, Vanderdoes has shown why the Trojans have recruited him.

Vanderdoes displays an incredible bullrush, completely moving any blockers out of his way. He’s also rather agile for a man his size.

Where he fits in along Coach Ed Orgeron’s defensive line will be interesting to see because Vanderdoes possesses so many attributes that will allow him to play multiple positions on the line. The Trojans’ defensive line looks bright for the future and Vanderdoes looks to be a critical part of that.
