Devon Blackmon | Summit High School (Fontana)

After speaking to one of California's top 2011 prep football recruits, Devon Blackmon (Summit High School, CA), it's clear that not only is he extremely talented, but he's got the confidence and swagger to back it up. Blackmon is being recruited by nearly every top school in the country following his junior season, and you can expect the offers continue rolling in throughout the year. Blackmon has offers from USC, UCLA, Alabama, Florida, Oregon, Washington and several other schools.

The offer from Alabama wasn't initially there for the young dual-sport athlete. “They weren’t really recruiting me,” said the Fontana-Summit wide receiver/athlete Blackmon. “They knew about me, but they figured I was a Pac-10 guy all the way until I returned a questionnaire they had sent me in the mail.” The 6-0, 175-pound Blackmon, who has offers from across the country, mentioned on the questionnaire that he had a high interest in Alabama. Devon Blackmon can definitely do it all. Literally. The Fontana-Summit High School star contributed as a quarterback, running back, receiver, safety and kick returner last season for the Skyhawks. If that's not versatility, I'm not sure what is. Several schools are recruiting Blackmon as a quarterback (Oregon, Utah, Washington and Nevada), in addition to wide receiver (Alabama, Florida, New Mexico and many others), and only time will tell what position the young student-athlete ends up playing at the next level.

As a dual-sport athlete Blackmon has no plans on relinquishing his dominance off the gridiron. Blackmon wants to compete in track and field at the next level, as well. Blackmon claimed first place in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.16 at the CIF Southern Section track championships at Cerritos College last Saturday, and is headed to the CIF State Track & Field Championships this weekend, where he will be competing for the second consecutive year.

Whichever university Blackmon decides to attend following his senior year will be blessed with a student-athlete that can contribute on all levels. Look for more recruiting news, stories, and exclusive interviews from CollegeLevelAthletes.com & CLA Sports.
