Athlete would be the perfect word to describe Mission Hills (CA.) Bishop Alemany class of 2015 star Desean Holmes. Holmes played alongside Steven Mitchell last year and by some of his own games, it seems as though he is ready to break out during his junior year. Now, his recruiting is beginning to pick up.
Holmes sits on four offers right now from Utah, Houston, UCLA and most recently, USC. Those are all well and good, but he wants more and from some schools out east such as "Arkansas, Florida and Florida State."
Holmes told us why he chose each of those. "Arkansas is just another dream school. I like Florida and Florida State for how they play and the great coaches. And Florida is the SEC and they both have very good receivers every year."
Desean Holmes Highlights vs Bishop Amat
Holmes lists his favorites and talked a bit about why he has his newest offer, USC, as one of his top schools. "Arkansas, USC, UCLA, Florida, Clemson and LSU. I like USC because it is close to home and the coaches are great people to talk to."
Of course, being on the same team as Steven Mitchell and being a close friend, Holmes has gotten a bit of advice and a few opportunities to visit USC. "We are very close. He told me to take my time with whatever school I want to go to. I think I'm going to wait it out (the recruiting process) and be sure with which school I want to go to."
So what does Holmes look for in a college? "I'm looking forward to getting a degree and have a great 4 years there and work hard."
Holmes has been a big time player on the 7v7 circuit this spring and he is going to use that to carry over into his goal for his junior season at Alemany. "I'm trying to get 2,000+ yards receiving," Holmes said, "to make it big, you got to go big."
There is still plenty of time for Holmes to get more interest on the recruiting scene, as well as make the ever-important college choice. For now, we'll just enjoy seeing him make plays like these for Alemany for the next two seasons.
