The undefeated Bishop Montgomery Knights defeated the La Salle Lancers 84-55 Friday night in Pasadena.
The Knights balanced attack featuring Lamond Murray Jr., Ognjen Miljkovic, Justin Bibbins, Larry Taylor III and Stephen Thompson Jr. came out strong and built an early lead.
La Salle freshman Vance Jackson drilled two early three-pointers for the Lancers while sophomore point guard Milan Acquuah shined with 16 first half points.
Bishop Montgomery led 24-15 after the first quarter.
The Knights continued to spread the wealth in the second quarter and extended their advantage to 42-30 by halftime. The Pepperdine bound Murray Jr. led the Knights with 10 first half points while Bibbins and Miljkovic had 9 apiece.
Bishop Montgomery controlled the second half and showed why they are one of the best teams in the country. The Knights stifling defense led to numerous fast break lay-ups. The speed and penetrating ability of Bibbins resulted in several easy buckets for the Knights big men.
Miljkovic finished with 21 points to lead the Knights while Murray added 18. Acquuah scored a game-high 23 points for the Lancers.
La Salle falls to 12-9 and will host Bishop Amat to close out the season.
With the victory, Bishop Montgomery improves to 25-0 and appears primed for a championship playoff run.
