Alif Grayes Makes the Change to Quarterback

Starting Defensive Back Will Lead Bishop Alemany Offense

Last year he was breaking out as a very good defensive back, this year he will be playing quarterback for Bishop Alemany High School (Mission Hills, Calif.) and things are beginning to pick up for athlete Alif Grayes. The 5-foot-11, 170 lbs. athlete is receiving interest from top schools and he's excited about the prospects.

While he doesn't have offers yet, Grayes has told us he is receiving interest and letters from USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington State. "I would love to get offers from all the schools that have been sending me letters. They are my top choices. It would be a dream-come true if I could get offers from those schools. It would complete me."

They've been showing the interest and telling Grayes what they think and expect from him. "They just pretty much try to get me to their camps and they like how I play. They want me to try and stay in touch with them."

The question comes, though, is what position will Alif be mainly recruited at? "Cornerback because they haven't seen me play quarterback," Grayes said. This season should help, though, since Grayes will be playing "all quarterback. Maybe a few plays on defense; we will see. My goals this year are to take my team to a CIF Championship and hopefully state. I want to be the best quarterback that Coach Herrington has ever had."

Grayes will have plenty of talent on the field with him.

Recently, Grayes attended USC's Junior Day and had positive things to say. "I really enjoyed it. It was a great experience and made me like USC a little more."

Grayes also competed as a cornerback at the recent Nike camp and says it went very well and he hopes he gets a chance to shine at both positions this upcoming football season.

Keep an eye out for this talented player who is definitely D1 Bound.
