CLA spoke with recent UCLA commit Adarius Pickett (DB/2014) from El Cerrito High School (CA). During March, Pickett attended the UCLA Spring Game and we had the chance to watch him take part in the activities held at the Rose Bowl.
"I was just figuring it out. In March I only had 12 offers, then I came up to 21. I took my official to UCLA and I liked it a lot," Pickett told CLA.
So far this season, Pickett has two interceptions and plays on a stout El Cerrito defense alongside USC 2014 LB commit D.J. Calhoun.
Pickett was considering USC, who had already extended an offer, but he had other plans. Adarius wanted to commit early.
"I was trying to take an official to USC but they said I couldn't do it until early December. It was a big thing for me t commit early so I can focus on the season and focus on my grades," said Pickett.
Adarius is comfortable with his decision and looks forward to being in Westwood.
"I'm done taking official visits. I might take an unofficial to UCLA," he said.
As far as what game he'd like to see, it's an obvious choice.
"I'm going to have to see that game (UCLA vs USC) in person," Pickett said.
Another high-profile 2014 DB to commit to UCLA recently was Denzel Fisher from Compton Centennial HS (CA).
"I talked to him (Fisher) on Twitter a little bit. He said he's happy we're gonna get a chance to play together," Pickett told CLA
Look forward to more UCLA football recruiting updates from CLA Sports.
