Salesian HS defensive back Jermaine Kelly is gaining the attention of some of the top college football programs in the country. Kelly had offers from UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Hawaii, Minnesota and several other schools before making a verbal commitment to the Bruins.

Jihad Vercher (QB/2013) held down the fort and threw strikes to receivers throughout the day on Saturday at the 2012 B2G Sports Elite Football Camp at Cal Lutheran University. Vercher filled up the stat sheets last season as a junior, and threw for over 3,800 yards with 38 touchdown passes. In a game against Santa Clarita Christian, Vercher was 14 of 17 for 362 yards and 7 TD strikes.

Mater Dei countered with solid performances from senior big man Xavier Johnson, sophomore sensation Stanley Johnson and UNLV bound guard Katin Reinhardt. The terrific trio combined for 64 of the Monarchs 75 points.

Salesian HS quarterback Jihad Vercher (QB/2013) was just offered by the Idaho Vandals. Vercher threw for 3 TD passes vs Pasadena. Vercher hit UCLA commit Jermaine Kelly Jr. on two TD passes, including a 72 yard bomb in the opening quarter. The duo later hooked up for a score after Vercher drilled Kelly in the numbers from 20 yards out with a rocket propelled missile.

Ajene Harris (QB/2014) played like a throwback Randall Cunningham on Friday night for Crenshaw High School. Harris threw for two touchdown passes and completed several throws with pinpoint accuracy. On the ground, the junior Harris proved to be lethal when he escaped the pocket and moved the chains with some nice gains. Watch the highlight mix, it speaks for itself.

Watch these highlights from speedster Darren Andrews from Bishop Amat High School. Andrews exploded for Bishop Amat and scored several touchdowns and finished the game with 10 catches for 130 yards.

Among the many plays the 5-foot-11, 170 lbs. do-it-all made was the CLA Play of the Game; an 83-yard receiving touchdown in which he took a quick slant to the house. Holmes has plenty of time left in his high school career and continuing to make plays like this will assure that he will be highly-recruited. Here’s the Play of the Game.

Mitchell scored two touchdowns and made several great catches for the victorious Warriors.
