The Alemany Warriors defeated the Corona Centennial Huskies 45-28 Friday night in a front of a raucous home crowd.
The game got off to a fast start with the Huskies storming down the field in the opening minute and taking the lead on a 33-yard touchdown run by Cal commit Tre Watson. Quarterback Robert Webber converted the two-point try with a short run.
The 2013 Honor Bowl final contest featured a matchup of nationally ranked stalwarts the Corona Centennial Huskies and St. Bonaventure Seraphs under the lights at Oceanside High. Led by a record-setting performance by 2014 Cal commit Tre Watson, Centennial defeated St. Bonaventure 69-55 in an old fashioned shootout.
The Concord De La Salle Spartans captured the CIF Open Division Championship with an impressive 48-28 victory over the Corona Centennial Huskies at Home Depot Center in Carson Saturday night.
The Spartans got off to a strong start after the Huskies punter mishandled a snap, giving De La Salle great field position. Star running back Tiapepe Vitale punched in a short touchdown run to give the Spartans a 7-0 advantage.
The night was just beginning for Vitale, who scored two more first half touchdowns, including a 46-yard burst, to extend the Spartan lead to 21-0.
