The Valencia Vikings stormed back from a 22-point deficit to defeat the Canyon Cowboys 35-28 in a thrilling Foothill League showdown Friday night.

With the game tied 28-28, Valencia senior quarterback Jake Wallace linked up with playmaking receiver Nick Jones on a 99-yard touchdown strike that proved to be the game winner. Valencia athlete Jay Jay Wilson came up with a huge fumble recovery near the goal line to set up the go ahead score.

It’s another week in high school football and there are bound to be some great games going on. CLA takes a look at some of the exciting action taking place this weekend. Castro Valley vs Freedom, St. Bonaventure vs Alemany, Oaks Christian vs Crenshaw, Canyon vs Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks), Edison vs Mater Dei and more.

Castro Valley vs. Freedom (Freedom HS)

The Castro Valley Trojans will head to Oakley, CA to take on the Freedom Falcons in a battle of 1-3 teams.

Eight local high school teams competed in the 1st Annual Canyon Cowboys Spring Passing Tournament at Canyon High Saturday. In the inaugural event, Canyon head coach Rich Gutierrez and his staff succeeded in providing the student athletes a quality platform to showcase their abilities.

There were several college level athletes participating as each team is loaded with talent. Schools in attendance included host Canyon, Oaks Christian, Westlake, Notre Dame, Valencia, Saugus, Buena and Eastside.
