At 6'1 230, Chandler Leniu is already built like a Division I starting middle linebacker. The junior had a monstrous season last year for St. John Bosco Braves. Leniu led the league in tackles and catapulted his team into the CIF playoffs.

CLA had the chance to speak with Chandler's dad Dave Leniu about what the recruiting process has been like recently.

Class of 2014 dual-sport Temecula Valley student athlete Kyle Plantier is primed for a big season on the baseball diamond and the grid-iron. Plantier has all the skills necessary to land several scholarship offers in both sports.

Just yesterday, Plantier bashed a grand slam to win the game against Murrieta Mesa and improve the Golden Bears record to 15-4. With the victory, Temecula Valley holds a 3-game lead in the Southwestern standings.

Desean Holmes (WR/2015) is making a name for himself and has fully emerged from the shadow of teammate Steven Mitchell, who recently signed to play wide receiver for the USC Trojans in 2013.

Last season, CLA had the chance to watch Holmes' Bishop Alemany squad face Bishop Amat and 2013 UCLA WR signee Darren Andrews. Holmes was the star of the game and finished with more than 170 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

"They called me and Rasheem (Green) and offered us. It was a quick conversation just saying that I got an offer and go Gators. He (Coach White) said that he likes that I'm aggressive and that I'm a hard-hitter and he'll talk to me more on Monday about it," John Houston told CLA Sports this evening.

It was a busy day for the 2015 LB from Gardena Serra High School. Houston racked up offers from the USC Trojans and Florida Gators today.

Today has been a day to remember for 2015 DL Rasheem Green from Serra HS (CA). Prior to the Los Angeles NFTC, Green wasn't well recognized as a top prospect. That changed shortly after the NFTC when Green picked up his first offer from UCLA.

CLA spoke with Rasheem today and he was beyond excited about the new offers.

"I got the offer from SC first. Coaches Tee Martin and Coach O were at school today. I met Coach O first and they said that they had offered. I was very happy, I was surprised though. I didn't expect today to be this exciting," Green told CLA Sports.

Yesterday marked the first day of the NCAA evaluation period. Until May 31st, college coaches and recruiters have their schedules set. For many top BSC programs, a necessary first-stop was Freedom High School in Oakley, California.

Watch 2014 WR recruit Jordan Lasley (Serra HS, CA) at the B2G Elite 7v7 Tournament in Fullerton. Lasley recently picked up an offer from San Diego State and is looking to gain more attention this Spring and throughout the upcoming HS football season.

The junior looked great running deep routes and with his long frame and good size he never had trouble getting off the line of scrimmage in press coverage. Watch the highlight video and see for yourself.

The stars were out at the 2013 B2G Elite 16 7v7 Tournament at Fullerton College over the weekend. The 16 teams featured some of the best local student athletes. In the end, B2G 5-Star took home the crown.

B2G 5-Star was led under center by Hart quarterback Brady White. Quarterback guru Steve Clarkson has referred to White as the next Joe Namath.

White linked up with fellow Hart teammate and standout receiver Trent Irwin on several big plays throughout the tournament. The two clearly have a great chemistry and should wreak havoc on opposing defenses next season.

Quarterback guru Steve Clarkson's Throwback Football League provides student athletes with an opportunity to be great. Youngsters from 6th-8th grade are comprised of 10 teams sporting vintage throwback uniforms from football's glory days.

The TFL is a springtime full pads full contact league that seeks to recruit, develop and showcase the best young talent around. There are no kicks in the TFL. Each team starts offense with the ball on their own 40 yard line. If they are unable to score and choose to punt, the ball is advanced 30 yards where their opponent takes control of the ball.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 lbs., the Miami Northwestern defensive end Michael Smith is beginning to stand out. The Class of 2014 player took to the NFTC in Miami and showed great explosion off of the line of scrimmage and it is easy to see that teams are taking notice with a solid list of offers already.

Smith boasts offers from Louisville, Clemson, West Virginia, South Florida, Cincinnati, UCLA and Marshall, but he's receiving big time interest as well. "Miami (Fl.), Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas and Yale are showing interest too."
