Steve Clarkson Hosts Aspiring Collegiate Quaterbacks

Top 2014 Quarterbacks: Brandon Dawkins and Wilton Speight

Day One at quarterback guru Steve Clarkson’s Field Generals Camp provided CLA with a glimpse at some of the most talented young arms in the country. The two-day event sold out quickly and provides immeasurable knowledge to all those in attendance.

75 aspiring college level athletes were afforded the privilege of being coached up by one of the best in the business in Clarkson.

During his collegiate career, Clarkson was a 3-year starter and two-time Academic All-American at San Jose State University under legendary coach Jack Elway.

In recent years, Clarkson has dedicated his time to preparing and mentoring quarterbacks interested in perfecting their craft and advancing their athletic careers. In the past, Clarkson has mentored the likes of Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley.

Notable quarterbacks include Oaks Christian senior signal caller Brandon Dawkins, USC verbal commit David Sills and Wilton Speight from the Collegiate School in Richmond, Virginia.

The elite quarterback camp was divided into groups where coaches could focus on developing the specific attributes and skills necessary to be a quality quarterback.

A primary emphasis was working on footwork in the pocket and the ability to extend plays with proper technique.
The quarterbacks got to sling the ball around to receivers running various routes that display arm strength, anticipation and accuracy.

The knowledge and experience these young quarterbacks take away from Clarkson’s tutelage will be invaluable to their growth and success.
