Marlin Lane (RB, 2011, Mainland High School) Recruit Interview

Marlin Lane (RB/2011) is ready to prove naysayers wrong during his senior season at Mainland High School, even though he's been told he doesn't even need to. The senior-to-be running back, who committed to Clemson last year, was advised that he could sit out his entire senior year and still have his offer on the table. Lane is recovering from a late season knee injury that required surgery in December of last year and says that he's ahead of schedule in the recovery process. Lane is currently ranked #42 overall on Rivals100 2011 football recruits list.

"I'm a month early in healing and I'm doing real good on my recovery. I do a lot of running and cutting on it. I train three times a day, five times a week," Lane told CLA Sports. Lane considered offers from Alabama, USC, Cal, Florida State, Tennessee, Michigan, West Virginia and several other universities before committing to Clemson. Lane has the build of a powerful back at 6'1" 205 pounds and if healthy when he enrolls in the Fall of 2011, look for him to contribute early and often for the Tigers.

In a junior season cut short because of a knee injury, Lane rushed for 1100 yards and scored 15 touchdowns. "I plan on getting at least 2500 yards rushing," says Lane when asked about his goals for his senior season. Lane is undoubtedly a hard worker and has the confidence of a true leader. "I would say that he can read holes, is explosive, has great balance, very quick, great moves, powerful, and runs with good pad leverage," Lane said in a self evaluation.

Marlin Lane is determined to return for his senior year much stronger than he was last season. Lane has earned his spot as one of the top prep players in the state of Florida with his dedication on and off the field. Lane is a self proclaimed gym rat and says he studies film in his spare time, which is a rare commitment for a player at his level.
