Serra Proves Too Much for Oakdale

The Gardena Serra Cavaliers came out of the gates rolling against the Oakdale Mustangs in the CIF Division II State Championship.

Serra jumped out an 7-0 on a sweet touchdown run from senior Marques Rodgers. The Cavaliers speed and athleticism has overwhelmed the Mustangs.

Rodgers scored two more touchdowns to give Serra a commanding 21-0 advantage.

From there, dual threat junior quarterback Jalen Greene took over, connecting with junior playmaker Adoree' Jackson on a 50-yard touchdown pitch and catch.

Trailing 28-0, the Mustangs moved the ball deep into Serra territory but had to settle for a field goal attempt that was no good.

Just before halftime, Adoree' Jackson took a short pass from Greene and proceeded to juke several Mustangs en route to a ridiculous 27-yard touchdown to give Serra a dominating 35-0 halftime lead.

Adoree' Jackson added to the onslaught in the second half taking a fake punt to the house for a touchdown.

Oakdale continued to fight and managed to score 15 points and the Mustangs went for two to prevent a running clock in the fourth.

Trailing 42-8, Oakdale added one final touchdown to make the margin 42-15.

It was a great season for the Gardena Serra Cavaliers, capped off by a memorable CIF Division II Championship.
